2025 SuperSlicer Development Roadmap

Discussions have been happening, with both correct and incorrect information, about what we are up to in 2025 and moving forward. I thought it was time to share a little more information.

Since roughly 2024/10 our Dev Team – Alpha has been working with our 3 primary coders on the migration from the 2.5.X echo system to the 2.7.X echo system.

Despite what people may think, this is not ad simple as merging in pull requests (“PR”). Our code base although originally forked from Prusa Slicer (“PS”) is vastly different. Each and every PR needs to be altered, updated, or re-coded for our echo system. This takes time and man power.

All of our team is volunteers and has day jobs. Even if someone was hired full time to work on SuperSlicer, that company would spec out what they want worked on and NOT the community. On top of this life events happen as well as health related issues.

Now given all this, yes we are behind on our INTERNAL release dates. Any date you saw anywhere in public was either based on one of our internal goals, or simply was made up by someone.

Right now we are working on 2.7.61.0 and are close to releasing a public beta. I will not say much more, since there is too many negative/toxic people in the community ready to pounce when something slips. This release will bring us in parallel to PS somewhere between 2.7.2 and 2.7.4… This will be followed by 2.7.61.1 which will be bug fixes.

Once 2.7.61.0 is in the wild and reports are being collected we will be starting on 2.7.62.0, which will be a “New Feature” release. We have a pretty good feature lock on this already, but we may consider some submissions to the upcoming “Request A Feature” form on our website. This will then be followed by 2.7.62.1 which will be a bug fix release.

Once 2.7.61.0 is released, you can consider 2.5.60.0 deprecated. We will NOT be fixing any bugs in it. Additionally we have no plans, as of right now, to do any work on 2.5.59.13. The code bases are just to different and it would be a distraction trying to move forward. We simply do not have the man power and/or funds that Prusa has to pay for a team of developers.

After 2.7.62.0 is out, we will be working on 2.9.63.0, which will bring us right up to date with PS 2.9.1.

This year is the year of leaps forward and not looking back!
